Code of Conduct
The Regulated Research Community of Practice (RRCoP) is dedicated to maintaining a respectful, professional, and focused environment for all participants—whether engaging online, in meetings, or at events hosted or supported by RRCoP. This Code of Conduct defines the expectations for behavior and interaction within the community.
RRCoP is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and operates in alignment with the NSF’s standards for responsible research conduct, as well as the Trusted CI Code of Conduct, which serves as a guiding reference for this policy.
1. Professional Expectations
All participants are expected to:
Properly identify themselves with FIRST LAST (Institution or Affiliation) within Slack and when joining meetings.
Treat all others with respect and courtesy.
Foster an environment of collaborative problem-solving and knowledge sharing.
Respect differing perspectives and experiences.
Focus discussions on ideas, technologies, and challenges relevant to regulated research environments.
Disagree constructively and avoid personal attacks.
Be mindful of the impact of your words and actions.
Harassment, disruptive behavior, or any form of targeted hostility will not be tolerated.
2. Vendor and Third-Party Participation
Vendors, integrators, and commercial representatives are welcome in RRCoP under clear expectations:
2.1 No Direct Marketing or Sales Pitches
RRCoP is not a marketplace. Vendors may not use this community to promote services, advertise products, or solicit business.
2.2 No Unsolicited Direct Messages
Vendors are strictly prohibited from sending unsolicited DMs to community members, especially for the purpose of offering services, collecting contact information, or setting up sales calls. Violations will result in removal from the community.
2.3 Contribute Through Expertise
If you have expertise, share it. If a member asks a technical or policy-related question, and you can provide insight based on your experience (without a pitch), we welcome your input. But replying only with “My company can help—DM me” is not acceptable.
2.4 Check In First
Vendors or representatives wishing to participate are required to check in with the RRCoP moderators or leadership before engaging, or with interest in sharing your services with the community.
These guidelines follow the spirit of similar communities such as CaRCC’s Code of Conduct and the norms in professional technical spaces.
3. Reporting Violations
To report a concern or Code of Conduct violation, please contact info@regulatedresearch.org. Reports will be handled confidentially and reviewed by RRCoP leadership in coordination with Trusted CI if appropriate.
4. Consequences
RRCoP leadership reserves the right to take appropriate action for any behavior that violates this Code. This may include verbal warnings, removal from meetings or Slack, or a permanent ban from RRCoP spaces. Vendors who violate community boundaries will be reported to their organizations if necessary.
